Miles2Smile’s Hunar Academy is a transformative initiative that aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, empowering underprivileged communities by building a skilled and future-ready generation of youths. With a focus on nurturing young kids as leaders and changemakers in their communities, the foundation introduced a comprehensive list of courses designed to provide practical skills and entrepreneurial opportunities. On Sunday, 30th July, the academy conducted a dynamic workshop centred around the theme of “Craft, Sell, and Earn with Papers.” Led by the talented artist, Adeela Habeeb, from Kerala, the workshop aimed to foster creativity, practical abilities, and a sense of entrepreneurship among the participants.
Workshop Content and Activities:
The workshop focused on “Craft, Sell, and Earn with Papers,” an innovative approach to provide practical skills and entrepreneurial opportunities to the participants. The talented artist, Adeela Habeeb, hailing from Kerala, led the session, imparting her expertise to the children. The main highlights of the workshop included:
1. 3D Alphabets: Adeela Habeeb taught the children how to craft 3D alphabets from paper, showcasing the power of creativity and imagination. The children enthusiastically engaged in this activity, developing their artistic abilities and fine motor skills.
2. Making Shadow Box Frames: The workshop also provided insights into creating shadowbox frames, giving the participants a chance to express their artistic flair. This activity encouraged them to think outside the box and create unique designs.
3. Paper Flowers: The children learned the art of making paper flowers, which not only added to their creativity but also exposed them to the potential of a marketable skill.
4. Cricut Maker 3 Machine: An innovative aspect of the workshop involved working with the cricut maker 3 machine. This taught the children basic electronics and technology, paving the way for potential careers in the field of science and engineering.
Impact and Outcome:
The session turned out to be an overwhelming success, having a positive effect on both the attendees and the organisers. The kids had a great time participating in the hands-on learning activities, which sparked their interest in technology, crafts, and the arts. To demonstrate their newly gained skills and creativity, they eagerly created 3D Alphabets and decorated them with stickers and paper flowers.
Beyond the children’s initial happiness and participation, the workshop’s effects are profound and go well beyond what is seen.
