Chants of prayers echoed through the compound of Sunrise Public School as the morning assembly on Friday unfolded. Children standing in a straight queue remained stationed as the board of Oral dental awareness and Hygiene was tucked. Curiosity emerged, smiles occurred, today, they were waiting to learn something informative with creativity, with colourful illustrations and comprehensive charts through a workshop.
At Miles2Smile, we see, we care, we do for humanity and when things are done for humanity tiny bits and pieces of broken parts are glued together with love and care. Love and care being one of the foundations of Miles2Smile resulted in the incorporation of Sunrise Public School. A place for Delhi riots 2020 affected children not only learn academically oriented syllabus but nurture overall development. The oral awareness and hygiene workshop was one such.
Organized under the supervision of Dr. Naba, Suraiya Khan, a Hong Kong-based doctor, the workshop started with an interactive session with children on oral hygiene. One by one hands were raised, and inquisitiveness was met with knowledge. Later the steps were demonstrated for holding the brush, placing the toothpaste, brushing the teeth, and more.
The dental model made the step easier with students understanding with live demonstration. Student Aafifa took the initiative of explaining the steps with the model again. Meantime, happiness swept over the educators when they saw the students answering confidently. Moving further, types of teeth were explained with their uses and how to clean them. Charts with colourful pictures were used to transfer knowledge amongst the students.
Students too yet again with confidence answered the questions placed by Dr. Naba. Some correct others wrongs but all of them were answered with the intention to learn and grow.
“The workshop made me learn the steps so easily. I enjoyed it a lot. I will go home and tell my mother about it,” said Zeba, a student of class 5th.
Meanwhile, for Nabiya of class 2nd, it was an enriching workshop which she wishes to experience again.
However, Ayan looked at the session as a way of interaction, boosting students’ confidence and elevating knowledge.
Moving towards the end of the session, participation certificates were distributed to students for the workshops and Dr. Naba along with team of Mrs. Zeba and Mr. Asif was facilitated with momentum, honoring them for the efforts they are putting in to build a world which is ready to put a radiant smile.
Following this, dental hygiene kits were distributed to students to help them practice correct oral hygiene and live a life without oral worry.With workshops like these Sunrise Public School aims to create an environment where students can learn and grow with overall development with knowledge that goes beyond traditional classes.
