The students of Sunrise Public School were filled with enthusiasm, excitement, and frolicsome on February 12 as the school celebrated its Sports Day. The event commenced with the lemon and spoon race conducted by the students of grade one under the supervision of Ms. Amreen and Ms. Neha.
Twenty students dedicated to winning the race stood on the start line with excitement palpable on their faces. At the sound of the whistle, they all set off, each balancing a spoon in their mouth with a lemon on top. Ahaan was the first to reach the finish line, closely followed by Ifran.
“I loved taking part in it. I am happy I came first; I am excited to receive the award now,” said Ahaan.
Laughter engulfed the ground when a student suddenly announced that he had forgotten to start the race, despite being one of the participants.
The next event was the relay race, under the supervision of Ms. Zara and Ms. Oorusa. The race featured two teams, seated on the ground and poised for the competition. As the race was about to begin, the audience erupted in enthusiastic cheers, rallying in support of the participants. Bilal, Faizan, and Amaan won the positions.
Frolicsome increased as the ground was set for the balloon race by grade two. The ground echoed with laughter as most participants’ balloons burst simultaneously. However, three pairs—Salman and Uzair. Ahad and Shahid, and Asad and Sufiyan—successfully reached the finish line with their balloons intact.
The moment of laughter was also witnessed when the 100m race took place, and the students emerged victorious within minutes. Bilal won the first position, followed by Faizan and Amaan.
The tug of war competition became the moment of the sports day as a large number of students participated in it. The competitive spirit intensified when the teachers spontaneously joined in, grabbing the rope to take part. Though unplanned, their participation added to the excitement and joy of the event. Meanwhile, the kho kho game was no less fun. Students played their hearts out during the game.
An impromptu game, In and Out, was introduced by Mr. Aasif Mujtaba, Founder & Director of Miles2Smile. A large circle was drawn on the ground, attracting enthusiastic participation from numerous students.
The event concluded with lunch and tons of laughter. Each student shared the lunch with others, creating a sense of love and warmth among them.
“The event was full of fun and happiness. All the students had a great day. I am happy that our hard work has paid off well,” says Ms. Gulnaz, the coordinator of the Sports Day.
