Hifz completion ceremony is a momentous occasion for students who have dedicated themselves to memorizing the entire Quran.
This year, the completion ceremony at our Madarsa Miftahul Quran was marked on Jan 26, 2023, with the recitation of Quranic verses and an invocation seeking blessings from Allah. The students who had completed their Hifz (memorization) were then called to the stage, where they were presented with certificates of achievement and prizes.
The students were dressed in traditional Islamic attire, and their families and friends were also invited to the ceremony. The atmosphere was filled with joy, as the students’ hard work and dedication was being felicitated.
The ceremony also included speeches by teachers, imams, and community leaders, who commended the students for their efforts and encouraged them to continue their journey of learning and spiritual growth.
Gracing the occasion, Miles2Smile’s Founder & Director Mr Aasif Mujtaba also attended the ceremony. In his address to the young Hafiz students, he reminded them that memorizing the Quran is only the first step in a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and understanding.
After the speeches, the students were given the opportunity to recite Quranic verses from memory in front of the audience. That was a particularly moving moment for all of us, as the students’ recitation of the Quran is a testament to their diligence and devotion.
The first madrasa that we took under our care, as part of the project ‘Taleem’, was Madarsa Miftahul Quran, located in Shiv Vihar, Delhi. When we first visited this Madarsa, we found it in a very desolate condition. The Madarsa was attacked by a violent mob during the Northeast Delhi pogrom.
Miles2Smile Foundation rescued its resident students, housed them in safe locations, and covered their transportation costs back to their homes.
During our intervention with the madarsa, we found that it lacked many infrastructural facilities for its resident students, even access to clean drinking water & informative books. This had deterred students from reading and acquiring adequate knowledge on different subjects.
As a first attempt, Miles2Smile Foundation donated several hundred textbooks of English, Hindi and math specifically curated for these students. We also provided the resident students with durable and comfortable beddings, long-lasting sets of kurta pajamas along with high quality warm blankets to beat the cold in the chilly winters. We also handed 4 well-built wooden racks so that students can keep their belongings safely. Some sports equipment and utensils were also provided apart from installing a water purifier in the Madarsa for these young students.
The students at Madarsa Miftahul Quran spend 6 – 7 hours a day memorizing the Quran besides learning English, Mathematics, Urdu, and as well as Science.
The ceremony concluded with a dua (prayer) for the success and well-being of the students, their families, and the wider Muslim community. The students and their families were then invited to enjoy refreshments and socialize with one another.
A Hifz completion ceremony is a significant event for students who have completed their Quran memorization. It is a celebration of their dedication, hard work, and spiritual achievement. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of education and the pursuit of knowledge in Islam.
Miles2Smile Foundation, under its project ‘Taleem’ is working for the betterment of the madrasas that are not in a state to provide necessary facilities to the madarsa students.
We have taken up this initiative to reform the madrasas and to raise their standards so that the learners studying in them can get all round development. Under the project, we provide basic infrastructural necessities along with the programs of learning enhancement for the madrasa students.
Project Goals:
- To prepare a database of all the madrasas in our reach and then closely analyze their condition in terms of education, infrastructure and all other necessary facilities.
- To contribute to the betterment of each child studying in madrasa by providing them all, around support and love.
- To encourage the madrasas to prepare a robust curriculum that includes English, computers and sporting activities.
