Games and sports have become an integral element of present day education. It teaches young minds the qualities of discipline, sportsmanship, team spirit and leadership. It also enhances the physical and mental development of children.
Sunrise Public School celebrated the 3rd Annual Sports Day on 14th Feb ’23 amidst a lot of fun and frolic.
The eventful day began with an energetic performance of pre-primary kids. It was a mesmerizing and an eye-catching performance, with lots of pom poms flying in the air and showering confetti.
They mesmerized the audience with their energetic performance. The proud parents could be seen filled with happiness to see their child performing.
The sporting activities began with the release of balloons by the Principal, Mr. Mohammad Danish. This was followed by the morning prayers and oath-taking ceremony by the students of grades I to VIII.
Thereafter, there were some fun races for Grades, Pre-nursery, and Nursery. These little shining stars also presented a Pom-pom Callisthenic drill, enchanting everyone with their rhythmical movements. There were some more races for the students of Grades I to VII, displaying their vigour and athletic talents.
The teachers also got an opportunity to prove their physical fitness by participating in races. They proved that age is no bar for running and winning on the tracks. There was also a Mixed Relay for Students and Teachers.
The most exciting part of this happening day was the TUG-O-WAR. An Inter-House event that it was, it gave a chance to the students to display their team-spirits.
The Principal Mr. Mohammad Danish in his address to the students laid emphasis on the need to participate. He said that it is not important to win. It is participation that makes all the difference. He congratulated all the teams, teachers and Admin Staff for a successful afternoon.
The playground was overflowing with zeal, passion and excitement.
The students displayed a wide array of energetic and bouncy sports events ranging from the Lemon race, Cricket, Kho-kho, Tug of War, 50m race, Head balloon race, and Hoola Hoops.
School’s Principal Mr. Mohammd Danish, with all the school staff and parents were present to raise the morale of the students. The School’s Principal himself awarded the medals and the certificates to the winners of the various sports events. He further emphasized the importance of sports in a child’s life and was delighted to see girls participating in almost all the Sports Events.
The highlights of the sports day were 50m, 80m, 100m & shuttle relay races of the Primary School. The pre – primary especially enthralled the audience with their fun – filled races which included Spoon race, Ball race, Drag and Win race and Honey Bee Race which was indeed captivating.
The Sports Day ended with the National Anthem. Thereafter, the winners were awarded medals and certificates. There were a total of around 200 students who participated in this year’s annual sports day and around 50 medals were given away to winners across all sports.
