On 28th May, 2026, in Miles2Smile’s refugee camps at Nuh, individuals found themselves engulfed in the festivities as the day of Eid ul Adha unfolded—a day which they look forward to every year. Smells of relief hovered in the air as healthy goats and buffaloes earlier tucked into the camps were now being sacrificed in the name of the Lord.

Eid ul-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant festivals in Islam. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail (Ishmael), to Allah and celebrates themes of faith, obedience, and charity. However, a section of the community willing to participate in the sacrifice remains away from it due to life’s circumstances. This includes the refugees who fled their homeland following the onslaught launched at them.

These refugees struggle to find loved ones in the new country, but at Miles2Smile we ease their apprehensions and provide them a space where they are loved, cared for, and cherished. Sticking around for this, we, every year, celebrate festivals with them. The Eid ul Adha was one such event—an opportunity to make them feel loved.

Milles2Smile provided healthy buffaloes and goats to them to sacrifice in the name of the Lord. Alongside this, the initiative acts like a pang of happiness for children. Dressed in their best attire, they frolic around the camps, filling the air with echoing giggles. However, what made this Eid al-Adha happier was that this year, Miles2Smile was able to celebrate with not only the refugees but also with the survivors of demolition and those who were hit by natural disaster.
The people of Assam faced a massive eviction in the month of August 2025, removing them from stability and certainty. Festivals and celebrations became far-fetched for them, but it was all smiles as we provided them with animals for sacrifice.

The year 2025 saw another disaster; nature was harsh for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. A twin cloud burst hit them, swallowing their house and happiness. Miles2Smile helped them rebuild their lives. Ever since then, we have helped time in all ways possible, bringing a sense of relief in their hearts, so why not during Eid al-Adha? With the question in our hearts, we were able to provide happiness on Eid as well.
Note: All these were possible only by the selfless support and donation of our donors contributing to 20 buffaloes and six goats.
