Rebuilding health, hope and honour among women affected by the cloudbursts in Kashmir’s remote valley.
Women’s Well – Being The Core Of Our Mission

In the beautiful valley of Kashmir, where nature’s grandeur meets life’s fragility, Warwan Valley recently witnessed devastation after a massive cloudburst swept through its villages. Homes were washed away, livelihoods lost, and life, for many, stood still. Among those most deeply affected were the women, mothers, daughters, and young girls, who carried the weight of loss while striving to preserve their dignity.

In these moments of despair, Miles2Smile cares for women during calamities since it has always been a central focus of our mission. Disasters often hit women the hardest, especially when their health and hygiene is in question.
Day One: The Beginning of Relief and Reassurance
On September 29, 2025 Miles2Smile initiated its women relief efforts in the Warwan Valley. Hygiene-Kits were distributed to 40 women to ensure they get immediate relief and long term support to reclaim their well being and strength. Each Kit contained iron tablets, iron syrup, sanitary napkins and intimate wash. These essentials were carefully chosen by a medical professional of our team and Director of health-care, Mr Mohammad Danish to make sure the bridge between physical health and mental well being is built. Miles2Smile began its Women’s Relief Drive in Warwan Valley.

.
For these women, the kits were more than supplies, they were tokens of dignity, reminders that their struggles were seen, and that care could still reach them even at the edge of the mountains. “In disaster relief, women’s needs often come last. We wanted to change that. Every kit we handed over was a step towards restoring a woman’s strength and self-worth,” said Mr. Danish, reflecting on the initiative.

Education Talk & Kit Distribution – Our Second Session
Two days later, on October 1, 2025, the valley transformed once again not with rain or ruin, but with faith, and sisterhood. Building on the previous efforts, on October 1, 2025, another session was organised where 80 women from different age groups gathered to receive guidance and support. This session was led by Naima Akhtar, a local resident who willingly supported us by volunteering with Miles2Smile. Her talk went beyond hygiene, it was a holistic session on faith, spiritual strength and how to live a life aligned with deen and Allah’s guidance. She talked about the importance of Salah and Nadiya Banoo Sheikh also recited Naat , filling the atmosphere with Adhkar and Dhikr. It was beautiful to witness the event unfold and surrounded by Warwan Valley just added to its beauty.

It was an interactive women’s gathering, where women from across the valley came together many walking long distances to attend.“In their smiles and tears, we saw strength the kind that no disaster can destroy,” said one of the Miles2Smile volunteers present during the session.

Extending Care, Embracing Every Woman
Through these efforts, Miles2Smile reaffirmed its commitment during times of calamity not only addresses their immediate needs but also empowers them to rebuild lives with strength and faith. In the Valley scarred by disaster this act was the healing thread weaving together health and dignity for women of Warwan. Disaster response, when seen through the lens of compassion, becomes not only about rebuilding homes but about healing the unseen wounds of the heart. Miles2Smile’s intervention became a symbol of what happens when care is guided by faith and driven by empathy.
Each kit handed out, each smile rekindled, and each prayer shared wove together a larger truth:
That femininity, when nurtured with faith, becomes a force of resilience strong enough to rebuild even what storms destroy.
